Involving the public in public services - ippr report
The practical steps that might lead to greater involvement of citizens in the design and delivery of public services are outlined in a report from the Institute for Public Policy Research (ippr).
Capable Communities asks how citizens can act together to improve the way public services work for them.
The report acknowledges the importance of people volunteering their time to help others, but also considers a wider understanding of community empowerment.
It also addresses people’s experience of the barriers to participation that prevent them from being involved.
